Notes

Allegheny monkeyflower (Mimulus ringens) is a perennial for rain gardens, meadows, borders, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. The lilac-purple flowers look a bit like a monkey's face. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer.

Pairs well with Pickerel weed, Royal fern, and Smooth aster.
