Notes

Betony (Betonica officinalis) is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, cottage gardens, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a slow-growing clump of green leaves with purple to red flowers. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, Blue grama, and Prairie dropseed.
