Notes

Carolina springbeauty (Claytonia caroliniana) is a perennial for woodland gardens, borders, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet, sandy or loamy soil. Several pink or white flowers with darker pink veins form a loose cluster near the top of the slender stem, and bees visit them. The plant disappears from above ground shortly after the seed capsules ripen, so mark its spot.

Pairs well with Cinnamon fern, Mountain laurel, and Blue wild indigo.
