Notes

Dwarf checkerbloom (Sidalcea malviflora) is a perennial for borders, meadows, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Pink to purple, hollyhock-like flowers open in the morning and twist closed at night. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It reseeds readily, so you may find new plants nearby.

Pairs well with Switchgrass, Creeping phlox, and Big bluestem.
