Dwarf umbrella tree (Heptapleurum arboricola) is a shrub for containers, specimen planting, hedges, and indoor spaces. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It stays evergreen and forms a dense mound of green or variegated leaves. Red flowers appear from early to late summer.
Pairs well with Staghorn fern, Angel wings, and Kimberly queen fern.
