Notes

Hairy false goldenaster (Heterotheca villosa) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy soil. Yellow flower heads grow in branched clusters on rough, gray-green, hairy stems. Butterflies visit the blooms. It self-seeds and may be invasive, so you can remove spent flowers to keep it in check.

Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Rough gayfeather, and Little bluestem.
