Notes

Indian plum (Oemleria cerasiformis) is a shrub for hedges and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Pendulous white flowers smell of almonds and open in early spring. Male and female flowers grow on separate plants, so you need two plants to get fruit, and birds love the purple-black fruit.

Pairs well with Western azalea, Purging buckthorn, and Autumn fern.
