Notes

'Jersey Knight' American holly (Ilex opaca 'Jersey Knight') is a tree for hedges, privacy screens, specimen planting, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, loamy or clay soil. Fragrant greenish-white flowers open in spring and summer, and bees, butterflies, and birds visit them. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Spicebush, Chokeberry, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Autumn fern.
