Notes
Panicled bulrush (Scirpus microcarpus) is a grass for meadow plantings and wet sites. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to wet soil. The leaves are tinged with red at the base, which gives a barber-pole effect. It also stabilizes soil along stream banks, stormwater ponds, and wet meadows. White flowers appear in mid to late spring.
Pairs well with Royal fern, Showy milkweed, and Foxtail barley.
