Notes
Post oak (Quercus stellata) is a tree for pollinator gardens, shade gardens, and meadows. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Its acorns feed squirrels, wild turkeys, and other wildlife, and its roots dislike disturbance, so plant it where it can stay. It sits low on the menu for deer. This oak is susceptible to oak wilt, so watch for leaf loss.
Pairs well with New England aster, Buffalo grass, and Mountain laurel.
