Notes
'Queen Victoria' cardinal flower (Lobelia cardinalis 'Queen Victoria') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Vivid red flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Culver’s root, Buttonbush, Cinnamon fern, and Big bluestem.
