Notes

Soft tree fern (Dicksonia antarctica) is a fern for borders and containers, and it needs little care. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to wet, sandy or loamy soil. Keep the trunk moist and the humidity up. Plant it in a protected spot, such as near the house.

Pairs well with Kimberly queen fern, Angel wings, and Staghorn fern.
