Notes
Spotted water hemlock (Cicuta maculata) is a perennial for pollinator gardens, meadows, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and moist to wet, sandy or loamy soil. Small white flowers form loose, dome-shaped clusters, and bees and butterflies visit them. The sturdy stem has magenta streaks. It is not related to true hemlock, but to poison hemlock.
Pairs well with Smooth aster, American mountain mint, and Indian grass.
