Notes
Water poppy (Hydrocleys nymphoides) is a perennial for pollinator gardens, low maintenance spots, and rain gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its copper and yellow flowers open from early to late summer and attract bees. It grows fast and forms a dense, evergreen mat.
Pairs well with Royal fern, Sweet pepperbush, and Virginia spiderwort.
