Notes

Alabama supplejack (Berchemia scandens) is a vine for low maintenance gardens, woodland edges, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet soil of most types. It climbs into trees and has smooth green bark. Small greenish-white flowers open in spring, and blue black fruits follow. Wild turkey, northern bobwhite, raccoon, and gray squirrel eat the fruits.

Pairs well with Cross vine, American holly, and Dogwood.
