Notes

Dogwood (Cornus drummondii) is a shrub for hedges, privacy screens, pollinator gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to wet soil of most types. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Creamy-yellow flowers give nectar to butterflies, and birds eat the white fruit. It spreads by root sprouts, so mow or pull extra shoots to keep it in check.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Big bluestem, Blue wild indigo, and American holly.
