Notes

Armenian oak (Quercus pontica) is a tree for hedge use. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It can reach 10 to 20 feet tall and 8 to 18 feet wide, so give it plenty of room to grow. Olive-yellow flowers appear in mid to late spring. Plan your hedge line around that mature size.

Pairs well with Buckeye, Dawn redwood, and Cotoneaster.

Native range

Caucasus and Turkey.
