Notes

'Atropurpureum' cobwebby thistle (Cirsium rivulare 'Atropurpureum') is a perennial for borders, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Fuzzy lipstick red flowers open from round, deep pinkish-red buds from early to late summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first. The see-through stems let you layer it with other flower shapes, and bees love it.

Pairs well with Star Gazer lily, Pink Hawaiian Coral peony, and Garlic chives.
