Notes

'Aurea' common hoptree (Ptelea trifoliata 'Aurea') is a tree for specimen planting, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense shape. Fragrant flowers open from early to late spring and attract butterflies and birds. It also tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Witch hazel, Prairie dropseed, and Christmas fern.
