Notes

Baja fairy duster (Calliandra californica) is an evergreen shrub for borders, hedges, and xeriscape gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. It reaches about 5 feet tall and wide, and it blooms in every season. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds all visit it.

Pairs well with Shaw's agave, Concha ceanothus, White sage, and Blue grama.
