Notes

Bishop's cap (Astrophytum myriostigma) is a succulent for containers, low maintenance gardens, and xeriscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or chalky soil. The creamy white to pale yellow flowers are fragrant. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The plant stays evergreen and tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Spanish dagger, Matilija poppy, and Elfin mother of thyme.
