Notes

Black mangrove (Avicennia germinans) is a shrub for low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Small white flowers can open at any time of year and bees visit them to make clear, high quality honey. You can also use it to hold canal banks in place.

Pairs well with Buttonwood, Horsetail, and Taro.
