Notes

Bladderpod spiderflower (Cleomella arborea) is a shrub for hedges and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full sun and dry, sandy or loamy soil. Yellow flowers have an odd scent and give way to pods that look like paper lanterns. Deer rarely make it their first choice. The evergreen leaves are lacy, gray-green, and palmately compound.

Pairs well with Shenandoah switchgrass, Millenium ornamental onion, and Elfin mother of thyme.
