Notes
Canadian milkvetch (Astragalus canadensis) is a perennial for borders, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Hanging whitish to pale yellow pea flowers form dense clusters atop leafy stems. Hummingbirds and butterflies visit them.
Pairs well with Switchgrass, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Pussytoes.
