Notes

Carleton's sand verbena (Abronia fragrans) is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, pollinator gardens, and low maintenance spots. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Ball-shaped clusters of long, funnel-shaped white flowers sit at the ends of sticky-hairy stems. The flowers open in late afternoon and close in the morning, and butterflies visit them.

Pairs well with Blue sage, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Creeping phlox.
