Notes

Carolina snailseed (Nephroia Carolina) is a vine for winter interest and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Bright red fruit hangs in grape-like clusters from September to November, and birds eat it. Deer tend to pass it by. It spreads by suckers, so give it room.

Pairs well with River birch, Christmas fern, and Switchgrass.
