Notes
Climbing hempvine (Mikania scandens) is a vine for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. Flat-topped clusters of white or pinkish flowers rise from the leaf axils in early to late summer. The twining stems form a sizable growth over other plants, so give it room. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Virginia sweetspire, Golden club, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
