Notes

Common moonseed (Menispermum canadense) is a vine for ground cover and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and moist to wet, loamy soil. Small, greenish-white flowers open in loose clusters, and the fruit ripens in September to look like whitish-powdered grapes. The fruit is highly toxic and may be fatal if eaten, so plant it with care.

Pairs well with American spikenard, Sensitive fern, and American bittersweet.
