Notes
False hemp (Datisca cannabina) is a perennial for borders, screening, and bold foliage in large gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun. It can reach 8 feet high and wide with arching, cane-like stems of bright green leaves. The leaves look a bit like cannabis. Small greenish flowers dangle in tassels in summer, and female plants have longer tassels.
Pairs well with Bowl of Cream peony, Shrub rose, Nepeta, and Sedge.
