Notes

'Firetail' red bistort (Bistorta amplexicaulis 'Firetail') is a perennial for borders and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, loamy or clay soil. Crimson red flowers appear from early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Plants grow 36 to 48 inches tall and wide.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Cinnamon fern, and Limelight hydrangea.
