Notes

Florida hopbush (Dodonaea viscosa) is a shrub for borders, hedges, containers, and xeriscape gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun and dry soil of most types. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Three-winged fruits splashed with red or purple follow the small flower clusters, and the shiny evergreen leaves stay on year-round. It tolerates salt spray and strong winds.

Pairs well with Desert spoon, Siskiyou Pink gaura, Vetiver, and Orange bougainvillea.
