Notes
Giant duckweed (Spirodela polyrhiza) is a perennial floating plant for ponds, water gardens, and wildlife gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full or part sun and moist soil. It is the largest of the duckweeds. Each frond takes in nutrients through the whole plant, not through a central root system.
Pairs well with Water lettuce, Cape sundew, and Bells of Ireland.
