Notes

Golden aster (Chrysopsis mariana) is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a low, sturdy rosette until late summer, when branches lift yellow, aster-like flowers about 1 ft. off the ground. Butterflies and bees visit the blooms. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Blue-eyed grass, and Blue grama.
