Notes
Green and gold (Chrysogonum virginianum) is a perennial for ground cover, shade gardens, woodland, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Yellow star-shaped flowers bloom over a long period, with peak bloom in May. It spreads by seeds, runners, and clumps, so give it room.
Pairs well with Indian pink, Dwarf crested iris, and Japanese forest grass.
