Notes

Indian pink (Spigelia marilandica) is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland plantings, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and dry to wet soil of most types. Red tubular flowers open to yellow lobes and attract hummingbirds. You can prolong the bloom by removing flowers as they wither. It does not compete well with aggressive plants, so give it some space.

Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Wild geranium, Lady fern, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
