Notes

Gum bully (Sideroxylon lanuginosum) is a tree for low maintenance, woodland, and meadow gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy soil. Small white flowers open in mid to late spring and again in early to late summer. They are fragrant and feed bees early in the season. Birds eat the fruit, and a deep taproot helps the tree handle drought.

Pairs well with Beautyberry, Osage orange, Passionflower, and Fountain grass.
