Notes
Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata) is a vine for borders, pollinator gardens, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The lavender flowers attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and bees, and the plant spreads by root suckers, so give it room. Plant more than one vine if you want fruit. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Switchgrass, Little bluestem, and Black-eyed Susan.
Native range
Eastern United States.
