Notes

Incense cedar (Calocedrus decurrens) is a tree for borders, specimens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to wet, loamy soil. The flat sprays of aromatic, bright-green foliage form a conical crown on a straight trunk with cinnamon-brown bark. It grows fast when young and then slows down. The thick bark protects mature trees from fire.

Pairs well with Slippery elm, American holly, and Sedge.
