Notes
Indonesian wax ginger (Tapeinochilos ananassae) is a perennial for tropical borders and containers. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 10 and warmer, down to about 30°F (-1°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes part sun or part shade and average moisture. It reaches 6 to 8 feet tall and spreads 5 to 7 feet wide, so give it room. Yellow flowers peek out from waxy red bracts.
Pairs well with Tree philodendron, Bamboo palm, and Begonia.
Native range
Queensland, New Guinea, and Moluccas.
