Notes
Island marlberry (Ardisia escallonioides) is a shrub for hedges, xeriscapes, and low maintenance gardens. It grows outdoors year-round in USDA zone 9 and warmer, down to about 20°F (-7°C). In colder areas, grow it as a houseplant or bring it indoors for winter. This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Small white flowers appear in dense clusters, and dark purple fruits follow in spring. The glossy, oblong leaves stay green all year.
Pairs well with Sparkleberry, Scarlet bush, and Purple sage.
