Notes
'Kathy' winter heath (Erica carnea 'Kathy') is a shrub for borders, rock gardens, containers, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy soil. It stays dense and grows slowly, and it keeps its evergreen leaves all year. Bees visit the flowers, which open in winter and again in spring. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.
Pairs well with Lamb’s ear, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Sweet alyssum.
