Notes

Longstalk holly (Ilex pedunculosa) is an evergreen shrub for specimen planting, hedges, privacy screens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows slowly into a dense shrub. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Greenish white flowers open in spring and early summer and attract bees and birds.

Pairs well with Japanese barberry, Autumn fern, and Big bluestem.
