Notes

'Sky Pencil' Japanese holly (Ilex crenata 'Sky Pencil') is a shrub for borders, containers, foundation plantings, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet soil of most types. This evergreen grows slowly into a dense, narrow column that fits tight spaces. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Bees visit its greenish white flowers.

Pairs well with Green Velvet buxus, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Culver’s root.
