Notes
'Maradco' beauty bush (Kolkwitzia amabilis 'Maradco') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Soft pink flowers cover the arching branches from early to late spring, and hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It sits low on the menu for deer. The shrub is also drought tolerant.
Pairs well with Susan magnolia, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Stargazer lily, and Paperbark maple.
