Notes

Marine ivy (Cissus trifoliata) is a vine for ground cover, woodland, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and average to wet soil. It climbs trees, fences, and shrubs with coiling tendrils, or it sprawls over the ground. The thick leaves give off a sharp odor when crushed. Small greenish flowers bloom from late spring to mid summer, and black berries follow.

Pairs well with Cross vine, Dogwood, and Blue wild indigo.

Native range

Southern United States and New Mexico.
