Notes

Mexican petunia (Ruellia tweediana) is a perennial for containers, low maintenance beds, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn, and butterflies and bees visit the flowers. It sits low on the menu for deer. It is also drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Butterfly milkweed, Pale purple coneflower, and Beardtongue.
