Notes

'Minato-No-Akebono' camellia (Camellia 'Minato-No-Akebono') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The evergreen leaves give you color all year, and the fragrant flowers draw hummingbirds and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 47 to 59 inches tall.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Sum and Substance hosta, and Katsura tree.
