Notes

'Sum and Substance' hosta (Hosta 'Sum and Substance') is a perennial for shade gardens, borders, woodland gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Its large yellow leaves form a mounding clump, and lavender flowers draw bees and hummingbirds. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. Give it room to spread.

Pairs well with Western sword fern, Eastern columbine, and Annabelle hydrangea.
