Notes
Mosquito fern (Azolla filiculoides) is a floating fern for ponds and water gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and moist to wet soil. It grows in stagnant and slow moving waters. Plants may quickly spread over the water surface during the fertile stage, generally in late spring, so you may need to thin it often.
Pairs well with Cape sundew, Sitka spruce, and Mondo grass.
