Notes

Partridge pea (Chamaecrista fasciculata) is an annual for borders, pollinator gardens, meadows, and naturalized areas. This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Its yellow flowers have red markings and bloom from summer into autumn. The small leaflets fold together when you touch them. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers, and birds eat the seeds from the narrow pods.

Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem, Big bluestem, Sundrops, and Texas bluebonnet.

Native range

Eastern, central, and and southeastern United States.
